Cherry tomatoes are small, bright and sweet, with a thin skin that bursts when you bite them. They need almost no preparation, which makes them a good fit for lunchboxes, quick salads and busy evenings.
Ways to use it
- Eat them whole as a snack, or add to a green salad.
- Halve and toss with basil, a little oil and salt for a simple side.
- Roast in a hot oven until soft, then spoon over rice, pasta or toast.
- Simmer into a quick sauce with garlic.
- Thread onto skewers with other vegetables for the grill.
Storing it
Ripe tomatoes are best kept out of the fridge, because the cold can leave them tasteless and mealy. Keep them at room temperature in a bowl, out of direct sun, and apart from cucumbers. Wash them just before eating. Tomatoes are a cool season crop in Thailand, with the main planting window from November to January, so supply can vary at other times.
