A young drinking coconut is picked before the shell hardens, and it is trimmed into a pale, rounded shape that is easy to hold. Inside is lightly sweet coconut water and a thin layer of soft, jelly-like flesh that you scoop out with a spoon.
Ways to use it
- Pierce the top, add a straw and drink the water, ideally well chilled.
- Scoop out the soft flesh with a spoon once the water is finished.
- Pour the water over ice with a squeeze of lime.
- Slice the flesh into a fruit salad or a sweet dessert.
- Blend the flesh and water with ice for a simple smoothie.
Storing it
Keep the whole fruit in a cool place away from direct sun. For the best taste, use it within a few days and chill it before opening if you like it cold. Wash the outside under running water before piercing or cutting, so that nothing on the husk touches the water or flesh. Once opened, finish it soon.
Where it comes from
Grown to certified organic standards. The certificate for each lot is shown when you trace your pack.
Every pack will carry a lot code. Enter it on the Trace your pack page and you will see the farms in that lot, the harvest date and the certificate.
